Transforming righteousness from a choice into a binding covenant between the servant and his Lord.
The Siraj Foundation for Education and Development organized the Righteousness Pledge Journey, a living lesson and experience of faith demonstrating that righteousness is broader than simply performing religious duties and deeper than moments of enthusiasm. It is a comprehensive journey in which the limbs are committed, the heart is awakened, and the resolve to obey God, avoid His prohibitions, and persevere in repentance and turning back to Him is strengthened.
The journey achieved its objectives: righteousness is an obligatory decision for those who seek salvation; prayer is a daily station of renewal that returns the servant to his rightful place, like a river washing away the sins left behind by the battles of daily life and the servant's struggle with Satan; the heart must be revived and healed through spiritual and educational seclusion; and the renewal of repentance must be established as a practical safeguard for righteousness and steadfastness. The bonds of faith are the support on this path, and the path of righteousness leads to the ultimate goal: meeting God and attaining His pleasure in Paradise, whose expanse is as vast as the heavens and the earth.
The journey culminated in a comprehensive covenant stipulating steadfastness in obedience to God, and commandments to the soul that the Qur’an be its guide, the Sunnah its light, and Paradise its goal, and that it remain vigilant against temptations and desires, and that patience be its provision, brotherhood its support, and strength of will its shield, so that it does not weaken or relapse, and you always remember that righteousness is not a moment but a lifelong journey to meet God Almighty, and that the greatest honor is to remain steadfast upon it until the end of breaths.
